Good News for a change

This is an amazing piece of art done by a Korean artist named Elder Rhee. It took him two years to complete the scroll. The artist meticulously drew the picture by hand with a very fine-tipped pen. It is not a painting, but a picture created by writing thousands of words in shaded letters.

It is actually the entire New Testament written out by hand. There are about 185,000 words on the scroll. If you were to magnify a portion of this work, such as Christ’s hand, you could actually read the words. The message of the artist is that the New Testament reveals one thing - the Person of Jesus Christ.

Out of the word arises “The Word”, which became flesh. The Gospel lies in the personhood of Jesus Christ. He did not come to bring good news…. He IS the Good News! The most important words in the entire Bible and the great truth that sets Christianity apart from all other world religions, is that “The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.” John 1:14.

Our God has not remained remote and unapproachable. He has come to us in person. He did not just write us a letter. He did not send us a representative. He came to us as One of us.

It is impossible to overemphasize how important God’s arrival on earth was. The world, and the life we live, is forever different.

Jesus’ coming reveals the heart of God and speaks volumes about God’s love for us. God’s coming in human form also reveals the heart need of us all.

We are in need of a Saviour. We are so often held hostage to sin and in danger of Spiritual death.

Jesus has rescued us from eternal danger. Think of it - God Who could have crushed the world because of its sin, came into our world to be crushed and die for our sin. The very One who said that everyone who sinned would die, came into the world to die in our place.

Remember, Jesus is not just a truth to believe in, He is a Person to be experienced. We can know Him as we open our lives to Him and ask Him to be Lord and Saviour. You can experience the real gift of Christmas, discover the Saviour!
