As modern technology and communications are making the world a smaller place, we are sharing so much from other people and cultures, traditions and celebrations – particularly from the USA – and they often become blended with our own.
This month – there is Valentine’s Day when the stores make the most to feature those special cards and gifts, and we hear much about love that really has nothing to do with love at all. We know that Valentine’s Day will come and go, and the stores will move on to Easter sales promotions.
When you think about it, the greatest love story ever told is the story of Jesus coming to earth, to live among us, revealing our Heavenly Father’s love to us, and ultimately giving His life on the cross for our sins so that we can spend eternity with Him.
We’ll see the commercial world move from Valentine’s Day to Easter, and, while the world may make no connection, we can remember the greatest demonstration of love ever shown, and how it led to the greatest victory the world has ever seen.
So in this month of February with much emphasis on love, be assured that no matter what has gone before in your life, and no matter what is to come, God loves you with a never-failing, everlasting love that is timeless. Remind someone else of that as Valentine’s Day comes up this week!
